Description

Boletus are mushroom-producing fungi with a cosmopolitan distribution. Their distinct characteristic is that the mushrooms have pores rather than gills. Most species form symbiotic relationships with certain plants within their root zone. Interestingly, boletus have their own fungal parasite called the bolete eater, which specializes in attacking these fungi.
