Description
Boletes and allies are fascinating fungi known for their unique, sponge-like pores underneath their caps, rather than the typical gills seen in many mushrooms. These pores play a crucial role in releasing spores into the environment. Some species within boletes and allies are among the largest fungi found in forests. They form mycorrhizal relationships with trees, helping to nourish the trees by exchanging nutrients through their vast underground networks.
