Description
Slippery jacks are known for their sticky or slimy caps, which can often make them easy to recognize. These fungi typically grow in symbiotic relationships with pine trees, forming special root associations that help the trees absorb nutrients. They are often found in forests and woodland areas where pine trees are present. Slippery jacks feature a distinct spongy layer beneath their caps instead of gills, making them unique among mushrooms.
