Description

A newly fallen tree is the best place to observe fungi of the hypoxylaceae family since they are often the first fungi to colonize deadwood. Some species of this family are used commercially as hosts on which to cultivate the parasitic fungus Tremella fuliformis, which must feed on a host fungus to grow a fruiting body.
