Description
Annulohypoxylon are known for their resilient and adaptive nature, often found on dead or decaying hardwood. These fungi display small, cushion-like structures called stromata, which serve as their fruiting bodies and come in various shades of brown to black. They are fascinating for their ability to produce various secondary metabolites, some of which are researched for potential medicinal properties. Additionally, annulohypoxylon play a critical role in the decomposition process, recycling nutrients back into the ecosystem.
