Description
Coprinopsis are a fascinating group of fungi often found growing on decaying wood or in rich soil. These fungi have a unique feature—many species in this group undergo a process called deliquescence, where the cap turns into an inky black liquid as they mature. Some species can break down toxins in the soil, making them beneficial for the environment. They often appear soon after rain, making them a hallmark of fresh, moist environments.
