Description

Gomphidius er en gruppe sopp kjent for sine karakteristiske tykke, slimete hatter og uvanlige sporetrykkfarge, som fremstår purpurgrå til svart. De har ofte en traktformet hatt og vokser i forbindelse med bartrær. Et særegent trekk ved gomphidius er deres gjellestruktur, som strekker seg delvis nedover stammen. De dukker vanligvis opp i skogområder over hele Nord-Amerika og Europa i løpet av høsten. Deres unike egenskaper gjør gomphidius lett gjenkjennelige blant mykologer og soppeentusiaster.
