Fruiting body small to medium sized; bulbous and puff-ball like in form.
Flesh
Flesh firm, white, becoming pinkish-brown to dark brown with age, turns dark brown where injured. Odour and taste not distinctive.
Habit & Habitat
The species is an ectomycorrhizal fungus; it grows singly or in scattered troops; and it can be found in woods and in damp, disturbed areas such as gardens, lawns, roadsides, paths, and under a variety of ornamental trees. Spore print brown.
