Is the Strophariaceae poisonous?
The Strophariaceae family contains many delicious mushrooms, but some are inedible and poisonous. For example, redlead roundhead (Leratiomyces ceres) is one that can cause stomach upset if eaten. Shaggy scalycap (Pholiota squarrosa) can also cause poisoning when eaten with alcohol, symptoms of which include emesis and diarrhea. What's more, common fieldcap (Agrocybe pediade) can easily be confused with certain poisonous, light brown mushrooms. So when you find them, don't collect or eat them at random. If you experience discomfort after ingesting them, seek medical help as soon as possible.
