Description

Valsaceae are small fungi that live within plant tissues, particularly tree bark. They form clusters of tiny, flask-shaped structures that release spores. Many species in this group cause canker diseases in trees, leading to branch dieback. Some valsaceae can survive as harmless inhabitants in healthy plants, only becoming active when the host is stressed or weakened.
