Description

Barnacle lichen is a lichen group known for its distinctive fruiting bodies. These structures resemble tiny volcanoes or craters on the lichen's surface. Many species in this group grow on tree bark in tropical and subtropical regions. Some barnacle lichen lichens contain unique chemical compounds that give them vibrant colors, ranging from white to pink or blue-gray.
