Description

Parmelina is a type of lichen known for its beautiful, leaf-like structures that drape over rocks and tree bark. These lichens are particularly interesting because they consist of a symbiotic relationship between algae and fungi, with the algae providing energy through photosynthesis while the fungi give structure and protection. Parmelina species are often used as bioindicators to monitor environmental air quality, as they are sensitive to pollution.
