Description
Ophiostoma are microscopic fungi known for causing blue stain in wood. They are often spread by bark beetles, forming a symbiotic relationship. Some species can cause serious tree diseases. Ophiostoma have unique spore-producing structures that resemble long necks, helping them disperse spores effectively. Their ability to thrive in low-oxygen environments makes them adaptable to various wood conditions.
