Description

Hymenogaster are underground fungi that form small, potato-like fruiting bodies. They have a strong, pungent odor and are often found in association with tree roots. Unlike many fungi, hymenogaster do not have a visible stem or cap. Instead, their spores develop inside the enclosed fruiting body, which must decay or be eaten by animals to disperse the spores.
