Description
Flavocetraria is a lichen group known for its striking yellowish-green color, often found in Arctic and alpine regions. These lichens form symbiotic relationships between fungi and algae, thriving in harsh, cold environments where few other organisms can survive. Adapted to extreme climates, flavocetraria can endure long periods of desiccation and high levels of ultraviolet light. Commonly found on rocks and soil, they play essential roles in their ecosystems, including soil formation and providing habitats for small invertebrates.
