Description
Crucibulum is fascinating because its tiny fruiting bodies resemble miniature bird nests complete with tiny 'eggs.' These 'eggs' are actually spore-containing structures called peridioles, which are dispersed by rain droplets. When raindrops hit the 'nest,' the force launches the peridioles into the environment, aiding in spore distribution. This unique mechanism is a notable feature of crucibulum, representing an incredible adaptation among fungi.
