Description

Corticiales are primarily known for their smooth, crust-like appearance, often growing on wood or bark. They play an essential role in decomposing dead tree material, helping recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. This group includes some species that produce vivid colors when bruised. Despite their unassuming looks, corticiales are remarkable for their ecological importance and diverse forms, ranging from thin layers to thicker, more textured forms.
