Description

Ink caps have a unique appearance, making the mushrooms easily identifiable when they start growing on lawns and in other landscaped areas. The gills on the cap gradually decompose, turning into a black, inky substance. Caps on the mushrooms have a hairy appearanc,e which is how they earned the name "shaggy ink caps."
