Description
Butter boletes are known for their strikingly vivid and colorful caps, often featuring shades of yellow, red, or brown. These fungi typically have a smooth, sponge-like texture under their caps instead of gills. They form symbiotic relationships with trees, especially oaks. What's fascinating is that some members of butter boletes can change color when bruised or cut, shifting hues to blue, which adds to their unique charm in nature.
