Description

Foxhair lichens is a lichen genus found in arctic and alpine regions. It forms small, shrub-like structures on rocks and soil. These lichens are well-adapted to harsh environments, able to withstand extreme cold and high UV radiation. Some species in this group have a distinctive yellowish-green color due to the presence of usnic acid, a natural compound with antimicrobial properties.
