Bothia
Scientific name: Bothia
Description
Bothia is a fascinating group of fungi known for their chestnut brown fruit bodies with smooth, dry caps and radially elongated tubes underneath. These mushrooms form mycorrhizal associations with oak trees, aiding in nutrient exchange. They typically grow singly or in small groups under oak, but can also be found near birch, beech, hickory, eastern white pine, and hemlock. Commonly seen in woods and parklands, they are also found in bamboo forests in Asia. In the United States, they fruit from July to October.
