Description

Ahtiana lichen is a group of lichen known for its ability to thrive in harsh, alpine environments. Typically found on rocks and trees in cold regions, ahtiana lichen has a unique symbiotic relationship between fungi and algae, which allows it to survive extreme conditions by producing nutrients through photosynthesis. These lichens are often studied for their role in indicating air quality, as they are sensitive to pollution levels.
