Cap 5-14 cm across, convex, becoming flat to funnel-shaped; olive-brown to reddish brown, becoming darker with age; surface dry, densely to finely velvety; with an inrolled margin. Flesh thick, firm, whitish to yellowish. Odour and taste not distinctive.

Gills decurrent, whitish, becoming pale tan or pale buff, close or crowded.
