Description
Wart lichens is a group of lichens commonly found on rocks, especially in marine and freshwater environments. Many species can survive periodic submersion in water. They often appear as small, dark spots or patches on stone surfaces. Some wart lichens species play a role in bio-erosion, slowly breaking down rock surfaces over time. Their presence can indicate good air quality in some areas.
