Description
Rock tripe is a fascinating group of lichens known for their resilience and unique appearance. Often found on rocks in harsh environments like mountaintops and arctic regions, rock tripe can endure extreme temperatures and prolonged periods of drought. Their flat, leathery texture allows them to cling tightly to rocky surfaces. Interestingly, some species within rock tripe are capable of photosynthesis through their symbiotic relationship with algae, making them essential components of their ecosystems.
