Description
Trapeliaceae is a family of fungi that grow as lichens in mutual communities with algae or bacteria. Like many fungi, there has been much scientific debate about the classification of the family, although it was first defined, or circumscribed, by Maurice Choisy in 1929. In the wild, you will find the lichens in this family growing as a typically whitish crust on wood, trees, and rock.
