Description

Saccobolus is a tiny fungus found on animal dung. Its spores are clustered in sacs, giving it a distinctive appearance. These fungi have a unique spore-dispersal mechanism, where the spore sacs burst open forcefully, ejecting spores up to 30 cm (11.8 in) away. Some species in this group can grow and produce fruit bodies in as little as 24 hours.
