Description
Rigidoporus are known for their wood-decaying properties and often grow on hardwood trees. They play a crucial role in breaking down tough cellulose and lignin, which helps recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. Some species in this group produce strikingly colorful fruiting bodies, typically with tough, woody textures. Found worldwide, they are especially prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions. Their resilience and ability to decay wood make them vital decomposers in forest habitats.
