Description
Wart lichen is a lichen group commonly found on tree bark. It forms small, dark spots that resemble tiny volcanoes when viewed up close. These lichens are excellent indicators of air quality and forest health. Some species in this group have been used traditionally for medicinal purposes in certain cultures. Wart lichen often grows in shaded, humid environments and can be found in both tropical and temperate forests worldwide.
