Description

Poriodontia is a rare wood-decaying fungus found primarily on fallen branches of hardwood trees. It forms thin, white to cream-colored crusts on the wood surface. The fungus has distinctive microscopic structures called cystidia, which are specialized cells that protrude from the surface. Poriodontia plays a role in the decomposition of dead wood in forest ecosystems.
