Description

Placidium is a lichen genus found in arid and semi-arid regions worldwide. It grows on soil, forming small, brownish-gray scales that can fuse into a crust-like covering. Some species have tiny pores on their surface for gas exchange. Placidium plays a crucial role in stabilizing soil and preventing erosion in desert ecosystems.
