Description
Frosted lichens are a fascinating group of lichens known for their frosted appearance, which comes from tiny hair-like structures on their surface. They thrive in temperate climates and are often found growing on tree bark and rocks. Unique to these lichens is their ability to survive in environments with low levels of pollution, which makes them excellent indicators of air quality. They also participate in a symbiotic relationship, partnering with algae or cyanobacteria to produce food through photosynthesis.
