Slender pholiota (Pholiota spumosa) has a rather nondescript stalk and a rounded, sometimes wavy cap that is usually brown, tan, or orangish in color. It thrives so well in woodchip mulch that in some regions, slender pholiota may be more common in urban landscapes than in its native forests.
