Description
Phleogena is a captivating group of fungi known for their unique and often tiny fruiting bodies. A notable species within this group, Phleogena faginea, forms small, black-grey, stalked fruiting bodies on decaying wood, primarily of angiosperms. These fruiting bodies resemble slime molds in appearance but are actually basidiomycetes, closely related to rust fungi.
