Description
Oxyporus is a family of fungi that contains several species that are tree killers. These fungi cause living trees to rot in a disease known as white rot and absorb nutrients from this decaying wood. One species of oxyporus has even been found growing on dogs. Other species in this family produce enzymes that help break down oil spills and antifungal compounds.
