Description

Ophiognomonia is a group of fungi that commonly infects trees, particularly hardwoods like beech and oak. They cause leaf diseases, affecting the appearance and health of trees. Some species in this group can overwinter in fallen leaves, allowing them to reinfect trees the following spring. Their spores are often spread by wind and rain, facilitating their dispersal in forest ecosystems.
