Description
Kidney lichens is a lichen group known for its unique, kidney-shaped lobes. These lichens often grow on the bark of trees or on rocks in moist, forested areas. Kidney lichens has a special relationship with cyanobacteria, which enables them to fix atmospheric nitrogen, benefiting the surrounding ecosystem. Some species within this group can change color when wet, adding to their fascinating nature.
