Neolectales
Scientific name: Neolectales
Description
Neolectales are a unique group of fungi that inhabit damp, decaying wood. Interestingly, they are one of the few groups within their larger classification that produce small, bright yellow or orange fruiting bodies. These fruiting bodies are often cup-shaped and stand out vividly against the forest floor. Neolectales play an important role in forest ecosystems by breaking down wood and recycling nutrients back into the soil, thereby supporting plant growth and soil health.
