Description
Mycocalicium lichen are tiny, pin-like fungi that grow on wood. They have a slender stalk supporting a small, round head where spores are produced. These fungi are often found on dead or decaying trees, particularly on exposed wood surfaces. Some species of mycocalicium lichen can be indicators of old-growth forests due to their preference for stable, long-standing wood habitats.
