Description

Metacordyceps is a fungal group known for parasitizing insects and other arthropods. They infect their hosts, eventually taking over their bodies and behavior. After killing the host, metacordyceps produces a fruiting body that emerges from the corpse. Some species can manipulate host behavior, causing infected insects to climb to elevated positions before death, aiding spore dispersal.
