Description
Melaspilea lichen is a group of lichens often found growing on tree bark or rocks. They form small, dark-colored fruiting bodies that resemble tiny scratches or scribbles on the surface. These lichens are slow-growing and can be long-lived, sometimes persisting for many years on the same substrate. Some species in this group have been used as indicators of forest health and air quality.
