Description
Ischnoderma is quite unique because it often grows on decaying wood in cool, damp environments, making it an essential player in forest ecosystems as a decomposer. Some species within this group can exude a gelatinous substance when they are young. Ischnoderma typically has a bracket-like appearance, adding a distinctive look to tree trunks. Their presence helps break down tough plant materials, recycling nutrients back into the soil.
