Description
Hysterium are fascinating fungi often found on decaying wood or tree bark, where they help break down organic matter. They typically appear as narrow, elongated fruiting bodies that crack open to release spores. Members of this group tend to be found in diverse environments, ranging from tropical to temperate regions. Their unique shape can sometimes make them look like tiny black splinters or slits on the surfaces they inhabit.
