Description
Hysterangium are underground fungi that form small, potato-like structures. They have a unique gel-filled interior and rely on animals to spread their spores. Some species have a strong, pungent odor that attracts small mammals. Hysterangium play important roles in forest ecosystems by forming beneficial relationships with tree roots, helping trees absorb nutrients and water more efficiently.
