Description
Helminthosphaeria is a group of tiny fungi typically found growing on decaying wood or other fungi. They are characterized by their dark-colored, flask-shaped structures called perithecia, which contain spores. These organisms play an important role in decomposition processes in forest ecosystems. Some species of helminthosphaeria are known to be parasitic on other fungi, particularly those in the Xylaria genus.
