Description
Erysiphe are microscopic fungi that cause powdery mildew disease on plants. They form a white, powdery coating on leaves, stems, and flowers. These fungi can spread rapidly in warm, humid conditions. Some species of erysiphe have evolved to specialize on specific host plants. They extract nutrients from living plant cells using specialized feeding structures called haustoria.
