Description

Thread lichen is a lichen genus found on rocks in damp, often mountainous areas. It forms small, dark, thread-like or shrubby growths that can easily be overlooked. These lichens are unique for their ability to thrive in harsh environments, including areas with high UV exposure. Some species in this group can survive long periods of drought by entering a dormant state.
