Description

Endocronartium is a unique rust fungus that directly infects pine trees without requiring an alternate host. It causes gall rust disease, forming distinctive swellings on branches. Unlike most rust fungi, endocronartium completes its entire life cycle on a single host. Its spores can survive harsh conditions and spread easily by wind, making it a significant concern in pine forests.
