Description

Dichomitus is a group of fungi known for its role in decomposing wood, helping recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. These fungi have interesting fruiting bodies that appear crust-like and are typically found on dead or decaying wood. Some species in this group are known for their intricate, maze-like pore surfaces, which assist in spore dispersal. Dichomitus plays a vital part in forest health by breaking down tough plant materials like lignin.
