Description

Dematioscypha is a group of tiny fungi found on dead wood and plant debris. They are characterized by their dark-colored, cup-shaped fruiting bodies that are often less than 1 mm (0.04 in) in diameter. These fungi play an important role in decomposition processes in forest ecosystems. Some species within dematioscypha have been observed to have unique interactions with certain types of algae.
